AFTER SCHOOL HANGOUT OVERVIEW
After school hangouts are a great way for children aged 5 to 11 years to climb each week in a fun and social environment with other children of a similar age. The large arena boasts 46 challenges for the children to access in their hourly sessions – a great way for children to keep fit and healthy after school and help build on their confidence and agility.
Staff are on hand to help children where needed although the hangout sessions are not specifically instructor led and are to be considered a fun and social activity.
We strongly recommend that children wanting to access the NICAS Foundation Climbing courses (see below) to complete a hangout session block to familiarise themselves with the arena and clipping method.

We are thrilled to announce that we have now been officially recognised and accredited by the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) to deliver various climbing courses for children and teenagers.
We are rolling out the NICAS Foundation Course (6 hours in length) from after Half-Term in February 2024. The foundation course will be for children aged 7 and above and we strongly recommend that children have completed at least one block of our current after school club to have famiIiarised themselves with the arena and clipping method.
The foundation course costs £85 which includes the NICAS log book (RRP £10) – this can be used for the advanced level afterwards. NICAS Foundation is a nationally recognised climbing award – children receive a log book and candidate number which is completed each week by an instructor. Parents can access an individual NICAS portal to view progress, request certificates and access NICAS information.
NICAS Foundation is focussed on learning climbing technique and skills through games and floor based activities – children will not be spending their whole session on the walls.
Children are required to complete the Foundation course to progress onto the NICAS Advanced Levels.
Foundation Courses are available on the 16:30 session Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. First booking dates are 27th/28th/29th February 2024. Spaces are limited to 10 participants per session.
